Samsung Epic 4G camera, and more

August 28, 2010

So you’re probably wondering what happened to my regular camera reviews. Well fear not, I’m still working on them :)

I’m off to Burning Man as usual (look for me at Center Camp Cafe most evenings), and I’ll be taking lots of pictures!

I’d hoped to test a Nokia N8 prototype this year, but that fell through, so I’ll be using the wonderful Samsung T929 (Memoir) again…

I’m also bringing my Nexus One, my iPhone 4, the Samsung Epic 4G, and my Motorola F3 (aka. the “zombie apocalypse” phone).

Follow me on Twitter, and check out my Epic 4G sample pictures (slide show) and sample video (after the break).

Unboxing the Samsung Epic 4G, part 2

August 24, 2010

Yes, I’m really enjoying the Samsung Epic 4G – take a look at my unboxing pictures (slide show), and my recent videos.

Stay tuned for a camera review, as usual – until then, here’s a tasty review to keep you satiated :)

Unboxing the Motorola Droid 2, part 2

August 24, 2010

First the videos, now the pictures (slide show) – enjoy the rest of my Motorola Droid 2 unboxing…

I’ve used the Droid 2 for a week now, and it really just feels like a minor update to the original Droid.

So keep that in mind, especially if you’re shopping, and look for a camera review here soon!

Unboxing the Samsung Epic 4G, part 1

August 19, 2010

It’s here – the Samsung Epic 4G, the most feature-packed Galaxy S phone yet!

First impressions? As I mentioned yesterday:

Wow… The Epic 4G is something else! I think it’s even better than the EVO 4G – love the dedicated cam key, and the keyboard is über fab :)

Take the Captivate or Vibrant, replace GSM with CDMA, add 4G (WiMax), a landscape keyboard, a front-facing camera, a notification light, a shutter button, and an LED flash – that’s the Epic 4G.

Check out my unboxing video and jump to my first power on video below – it’s all quite epic :)

Unboxing the Motorola Droid 2, part 1

August 17, 2010

Like robots? Well rejoice – thanks to the folks at Verizon, the Motorola Droid 2 is here :)

The Droid 2 is the successor the original Droid, my pick for device of the year 2009 – that’s a lot to live up to!

Beyond the cosmetic changes mentioned in my unboxing video (above) and first power on video (after the break), the Droid 2 packs an improved keyboard, and the same 1 GHz processor as the Droid X.

The Droid 2 is the first phone to ship with FroYo pre-installed, but sheds Android’s default UI for the same non-Blur skin showcased on the Droid X – it’s rather unfortunate…

Unboxing the BlackBerry 9800 (Torch), part 2

August 15, 2010

You know I’m not impressed with a device when it takes me 5 days for a full unboxing….

Here are some pictures (slide show) of the BlackBerry 9800 (Torch) to complement my recent videos!

I’ll have a camera review for you in the near future.

Unboxing the BlackBerry 9800 (Torch), part 1

August 10, 2010

The BlackBerry 9800 (Torch) was announced with great fanfare last week, and the people at AT&T provided me with a review unit yesterday.

So far, critics agree that the Torch is under-screened and under-powered, that it’s too conservative and too bland to take on the competition…

I’ve already shared my ennui about the Torch, but I’m going to take it for a spin regardless. Enjoy the unboxing video, and expect some pictures and additional musings soon!

Update: First power on video after the break, with browser demo :)
