The HTC Magic is here
A few days ago I scored an HTC Magic… Mind you, it’s not just any HTC Magic – it’s the limited-edition, unlocked device that was handed out to developers at Google I/O!
This phone is noticeably more compact and attractive than the T-Mobile G1. Check out the specs:
– Android 1.5 “Cupcake”
– 3.2″ 480×320 TFT capacitive touchscreen
– 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, macro, geo-tagging, and QVGA video recording at 30 fps
– 3G (2100/1700 HSDPA), 2G (quad-band EDGE), WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, GPS, compass
– Micro-SDHC card slot, standard mini-USB compatible (ExtUSB) connector, no standard 3.5 mm audio connector
– Thin, no hardware keyboard
I’m a couple weeks late to the party, but here are some pictures and a video. Enjoy :)

Really interested to see what you think of this.
I had a play with one in the Vodafone shop a couple of weeks ago; sexy, but… I found it both a little sluggish to respond to touch (still early days for Android?) and also slow & awkward to enter text on, compared to both an iPhone/Touch, and a basic T9 hard keyboard.
Also unconvinced that the camera would come anywhere near my trusty N95.
Thanks millions for posting. The HTC Magic was one that I was really wanting to look at. I’m waiting for the new slew of android phones and how they compare against the G1. My wife and I love our G1s.
One thing about the G1 that I have seen posted: everyone seems to think the G1 is complicated or tough to get used to. I disagree. I think it’s easy as any of them. My 3 year old has no problem looking at pictures, playing pac man without our help at all. The ease of a UI is in the eye of the beholder… ok enough ranting.
One thing about the G1: I do envy the Nokia cameras. The G1’s camera feels more like a toy than a camera. The pics from my sis’ N95 are really good. But given that I love the G1 for the phone and network goodies, it’s forgivable.
Thanks again for all great pics, vids, and most of all your commentary ;)
