Unboxing the HTC EVO 4G, part 2
Hot on the heels of yesterday’s initial unboxing of the HTC EVO 4G, here are additional pictures (slide show) and videos (above & after the break)!
The pictures include comparisons between the EVO 4G, the Incredible, the Nexus One, the Hero, and the iPhone 3GS – there’s even an OQO Model 01+ cameo…
First impressions? That 4.3″ TFT screen is just phenomenal – the additional real estate really improves the user experience, but the phone remains very pocketable.
The EVO 4G lacks the 8 GB of built-in storage available on the Incredible, but includes 1 GB of flash for applications and comes with an 8 GB micro-SD card pre-installed.
On the camera front, the EVO 4G appears to share the same excellent sensor and optics as the Incredible, but adds HD video recording and automatic face detection. Don’t be surprised if the Incredible inherits these features in a future software update :)
There’s no optical trackpad or scroll ball on the EVO 4G – the on-screen keyboard includes cursors keys instead…

Could you please show us the camera quality and call quality please. Also, Incredible had signal strength issues where the phone shows 1 bar or 2 bars when others show the full in verizon case. Just to verify whether this phone also has the same problem or it is only the network issues. Also the call quality. Thank you.
Calls quality is fine, reception is good – no problems…

Andriod 2.2 (for Evo in July) lets you store Apps on the SD card now. You can even move them from the SD card to the system for those apps that don’t play well through SD cards. Then move them back to the SD card after you are done with it. I say that is NICE. So, I will be happy with my Evo running 2.1, then happier yet in July when I get 2.2

I’m kind of on the edge about whether to get this phone or not. I am looking to get my first smartphone, but this one may be overkill for me. (i.e. I’ll never make use of the HDMI nor hotspot, since I don’t have a television or laptop.) Would you recommend this to a first-timer?
Now that you’ve had the phone for a few days, can you tell us what the battery life is like? 4G isn’t available in my city yet, but were I to get this phone I’ll be using 3G web browsing quite a bit.
Also, you mentioned you’d prefer it to be GSM. Is that because you can travel internationally easier with GSM or is there a difference in call/data quality?

wow, so many great phones the incredible, the evo, and iphone 4g. decisions decisions. none of them on tmobile though.
