The Palm Pixi Plus is here
A few days ago I received a Palm Pixi Plus from the friendly people at Verizon. As you know I’ve been using a Palm Pre on and off since launch, but I snubbed the original Pixi for lack of WiFi. Thankfully, it’s been remedied with the Plus :)
So what’s my take so far? Palm makes great software running on lackluster hardware. While the Pixi Plus is extremely affordable for a fully featured smartphone, it is also awash with a veritable smorgasbord of plastics. As a result it feels even cheaper than the Pre…
The tiny (2.63″) capacitive touchscreen flexes when pushed and looks partially opaque just like a resistive touchscreen. The 2 megapixel camera (with flash, but no autofocus/macro) is just embarrassing, and device performance is often sluggish!
But it’s not all doom and gloom – the Pixi Plus is smaller, thinner, and lighter than almost anything else, and features a fantastic keyboard despite its diminutive size – all this and WiFi. Can I have an Amen?
